In 1965, Univerity of Florida doctors developed Gatorade to help the football team perform at their best. Four decades later, their charge lives on at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute, a world renowned sports science centre dedicated to helping athletes through nutritional research, lab testing and evaluation, and the development of new and innovative Gatorade products.

Gatorade Sports Science Institute
Founded in 1985 in Barrington, Illinois, the Gatorade Sports Science Institute is a state-of-the-art research facility dedicated to addressing the performance and safety needs of athletes through scientific exploration in the fields of hydration and nutrition science. GSSI is responsible for scientifically testing the performance of Gatorade products in competitive environments, researching and develop ing new Gatorade flavors, products and prototypes, and evaluating the impact of various sports hydration and nutritional practices on athletes at both the amateur and elite level. Events:
Gatorade is proud to sponsor some of Britain’s top sporting events this year with a presence at over 20 major events across the UK. Gatorade will be at the events with product on the course, at the finish line and some events will have a Gatorade expo area where spectators and athletes can sample the product and learn more about sports hydration and nutrition from Gatorade team members and pro-athletes. Also at selected events a mobile Gatorade Sports Science Institute Laboratory will be on site at which athletes can be sweat and hydration tested.
